Orange Broadband: No Uploads

Are you a recent customer of Orange Broadband and experiencing no ftp upload connection or very slow upload speeds? I bet you are connecting to your router wirelessly too huh. Well fear not, I have the solution!

After 3 days of speaking to the frankly useless Orange Tech Help, various speed tests and my own fiddlings I finally stumbled upon a solution.

So lets cut to the chase because if you were as frustrated as me then you are on the verge of telling Orange to stuff it and have a big tantrum.

The fix:

Log into your router (If you installed the Netgear CD then there should be a link on your desktop which will open a path similar to: C:\Users\YourName\Desktop\Router_Setup.html). You will now be on the router’s summary page (see the first picture below). AT the bottom right there is a link that says “Router Login”…..click it!

Now unless you changed it the standard login info is: User: admin – Pass: password

On the left hand side menu click “Wireless Settings”. Under the heading “Wireless Network” you will see a “Mode” option, this is probably set to 150Mbps, change it to “g & b” (see the second picture below).

So thats: router admin->Wireless Settings->Wireless Network->Mode->g & b

Hey presto you have uploading power once again (mwahahahahaha). Now please note I was supplied a Netgear Wireless-N 150 ADSL2+ Modem Router – model DGN1000, so if you have a different router the path to the settings may be different but hopefully the result will be the same.

Now for a small rant at the Orange Tech Help: Why is all you can do to help is do a speed test, or ask me to do a speed test. I had already said the speed test I did earlier was fine! This obviously pointed to the router or a firewall problem or something else……but no no “We will do a speed test”. Rubbish! Waste of 5p a bloody minute, the guys have all the tech knowledge of an Orangutan’s nipple.

Well atleast Im enjoying very good speeds for my area, although downloads speeds are capped at peak times

I searched and searched google for a solution and didnt find it so I hope this helps you out.

Ultimate Forex Secrets Seminar – Review

Just yesterday my bestest buddy and I ventured down to Edinburgh Grosvenor Hilton Hotel where Knowledge to Action Ltd where holding a free seminar.

Their website found here: http://www.knowledgetoaction.co.uk is how shall I put it a bit spamy looking. You know the type a one page hash of sales jargon and impressive figures that are too good to be true.

However it was my friend who found it and I hadnt seen the website until today. Anyway it was free and I thought what the hell it sounds quite interesting.

So the speaker talked for over 2 hours and to be honest didnt really give to much away……obviously! It was basically an extended sales pitch and drive to recruit people on their intensive course where you are taught Greg Secker’s proven strategies by experts. Fair dos I spose.

There was some quite interesting info in there though and it definitely wetted my apetite to investigate the Forex market more. I dont think I will be joining Knowledge to Actions course costing £2000 though, plus you have to get down to London which is even more expense! No, I think I would much rather invest that £2K in the market and have a bash once Ive read up on the basics a bit more. This of course was frowned upon by the speaker who informed us all that the money was well spent on the course as you will lose your first £2k if you dont know what you are doing.

I wondered about his and Im sure a lot of the successful traders today didnt take their course or any other. My friend has a degree in economics and we are both fairly intelligent and we picked up some good tips from the seminar, we will do a lot more reading and maybe do some investing this summer, funds permitting.

The types of investment can vary and I still dont fully understand some of them as the seminar just touched upon them briefly. Some require a bit more initial capital and others can be utilised with a smaller budget.

All in all if you are interested in starting to invest in Forex then dont be afraid of going to this free seminar, it does have some useful tips if you can cut through the bull and sales pitch.

All I would say is look out for the contradictions, one minute its easy to make money with this system and its so simple, next the speaker cant complicate things by telling you any of the “secrets” now! Hum, oh well make your own mind up.

Creditsafe, Marketsafe; Unethical Companies That Should Be Avoided

If you receive a cold call from Creditsafe (ASA Creditsafe – Creditsafe Business Solutions Ltd – www.creditsafeuk.com) or their sister company Marketsafe (www.marketsafeuk.com) please just say you are not interested and hang up the phone. If you let them speak the salesperson will aggressively sell you their services for the “low” price of £800, you can however haggle them down to £150 if you show complete disinterest! Thats a good deal I hear you cry, well no think about it. What does it tell you about them as a business and the service they offer if they devalue it so quickly? Plus if they can sell it at £150 then thats what they should do instead of ripping people off that pay £800.

Now if they create an account for you (or you do it) and they phone you to take you through the login process, do not do it! They will tell you just to click their terms and conditions confirming you have read them, this means you have entered into a contract with them. If you decide from this point that you do not want their service they will send you threatening letters and take you to court, stating that you have digitally signed and entered into a contract with them.

So please do not log into their system and agree to terms and conditions.

Creditsafe and Marketsafe operate an “easy in, hard out” style contract, its easy to agree to it and difficult to get out of. There are loads of cases online about their “auto renew” policy. Basically if you do not write to them explaining you wish to opt out of their auto renew system they will just go ahead and charge you for the next years service. It has been documented on a number of forums online that the company will sometimes increase the renewal cost by up to 10 times what was paid in the first year! Scary. UPDATE: I have received on the 27/04/11 a statement from Citigate Dewe Rogerson who represent Creditsafe (in what capacity Im not completely sure) saying: “This is factually incorrect; no customer is charged if they do not use the service once their existing contract expires. We know web hosts do not appreciate hosting content that maliciously damages the reputation of firms without foundation.”

The service they offer isnt even that great, you can achieve a similar service yourself for free, its called Yell.com! You can find just as many business contact/leads by searching Yell.com (for free) as you can with Credit Safe! The Credit Safe database is also innaccurate as its supposedly tells you if a business has a website through their system, as a web designer I thought this would be useful but upon cross checking their database with my own searches online I found that the seriously need to update their database!!

Anyway I cant recommend enough you STAY AWAY FROM THESE COMPANIES! It will only cause you stress, if you are interested in their services perhaps look at their competition or look for free ways to achieve the service!

Creditsafe and Marketsafe suck and sail close to the winds of being a scam, using bully tactics to sell and retrieve funds.

Please feel free to comment below and share your experiences with the company! I have no doubt most will be complaints but Im sure the Creditsafe staff will be on saying how great they are as they do on every other blog and forum Ive seen. Check out the links below in one of my comments to see other peoples complaints. Definitely a company to avoid, just dont put yourself through the hassle.

These numbers may have changed by now and they do withold their number to. If one of the above numbers calls you do yourself a HUGE favour…dont answer. Or better yet tell them to get lost as you have read Effutios review!!

UPDATE 27/04/11: Just been contacted by Citigate Dewe Rogerson stating: “The content posted on one of the threads – http://www.effutio.com/chatter/creditsafe-marketsafe-unethical-companies-that-should-be-avoided/116/ we believe is potentially libellous and uses the trademarks of our client Creditsafe without permission. We have requested the logos and content be removed previously, but this has not happened”…….well Ive never heard from them before! Anyway Ive been forced to take down their logos but they are easy to find online.
